Whale watching in Mozambique

For children over 15 years old and adults

Please get in touch with us if you would like to participate in the next tour.

The tour is scheduled for July – August 2025.

Location - Mozambique

This tour is special because during the two weeks in Mozambique we will have the opportunity to observe the main representatives of the megafauna (whales, sharks, turtles, manta rays, thresher sharks, etc.) We will literally get up close and personal with large reef sharks, swim with manta rays, turtles and thresher sharks, but we will also get to see the “little ones” as we search for seahorses in the estuary.

Professional programs

– Search for and observation of seahorses in the estuary
– Ocean safari: whale watching, ecology and physiology of long-finned whale behaviour
– deployment of camera traps and analysis of videos
– snorkelling with whale sharks and manta rays
– shark tagging
– Plankton project. Afterwards we will listen to an oceanographic lecture on plankton.
– Mangrove project: combined with a lecture on the identification, importance and threats of mangroves.
– recording and processing of daily data
– technical presentations
– beach cleaning
– visits to local communities (typically on weekends or in bad weather)
– surf spotting (typically at weekends or in bad weather)
– for those who have not yet taken a diving test, it is possible to take the test on site

– 8-11 am: morning dive or boat expedition with research, professional programme
– 11:30 – 12:30: lunch
– 13-16 hrs: professional programme

Catering

Full board (breakfast, lunch, dinner) prepared by our private chef. Sometimes we may choose to cook outside on the beach. Every day we are cooked fresh food from sustainable sources. There is a wide choice for everyone – vegetarian or vegan food is also available. You’re pretty sure you’ll eat deliciously every day at Paradise.

Accommodation

We will be staying in beachfront houses, sharing with other volunteers and staff in same-sex accommodation. The restaurant and bar in the accommodation will have breathtaking views of the ocean and mangrove lagoon (whales!) Project coordinators will also live in the house and will be available 24 hours a day. There is a 24-hour security service on site, with additional staff who are always happy to help.
